Cabinet sales drop in November month-over-month comparison: KCMA

RESTON, Va. – Cabinet manufacturers reported a decrease in overall cabinet sales of 9.6% for November 2023 compared to 2022 figures for the month, with all three segments reporting declines, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's November Trend of Business report.

Survey respondents reported overall sales of $214,135 for November. In a year-over-year monthly comparison, custom sales were down 8.7% to $59,061, semi-custom dropped 11.2% to $116,631 and stock sales declined 6.0% to $38,443. Cabinet quantity for the month was at 567,164, a decrease of 13.4% compared to November 2022 figures.

Year to date cabinet sales present a slightly better picture. Custom sales were $710,870, up 6.4%, and semi-custom sales were at $1.5 million, up 2.0%, however stock sales were down 20.2% to $420,417, compared to 2022 year-to-date figures provided by respondents. Overall, sales through November dropped 1.3% to $2.6 million, compared to the same time period last year. Cabinet quantity for the year to date was 6.9 million, a decrease of 14% over the time period.

Estimated overall market sales for November were $1.3 million and estimated 2023 sales year to date for the overall market were $16.0 million.

The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
